Two Power 5 Starters Opt Out of EA Sports ‘College Football 27’
College football players in the state of Georgia dont seem to be big video game fans.
According to reports from SleeperCFB, Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton and Georgia Tech running back Justice Haynes have both opted out of appearing in the EA Sports College Football 27 video game.
The news comes as a bit of a surprise after Stockton, a 2026 Heisman Trophy contender, and Haynes, a 1,400-yard rusher, appeared in both the 2025 and 2026 versions of the game.
Fans werent too happy to hear they wouldnt be able to play with either player in this years game.
Imagine not signing your name to be in a game that u get paid for lmfao, one user noted.
Whats the reason not to? Its really just a slap in the face to your fanbase nobody else gives a [expletive] but hell yeah the fans wanna load up and play with they authentic squads, one fan scoffed.
Yea this lame.
Some people be too caught up into themselves, remarked another fan.
Can someone explain to me what the upside of not being in the video game is? another user asked.
Weird, why not be part of history the next level isn't promised, stated another user.
The game is scheduled to release on July 9, but both players can still be included in the game if they complete the necessary paperwork to be added later as part of a roster update.
Stockton, whos arguably the highest-profile player to opt out of the game since it was revived three years ago, threw for 2,894 yards, 24 touchdowns, and five interceptions last year.
He led the Bulldogs to a 12-2 record, an SEC Championship, and an appearance in the College Football Playoff.
Conversely, Haynes, a third-team All-Big Ten selection last year, rushed for 857 yards and 10 touchdowns with the Michigan Wolverines before transferring to Georgia Tech.
Haynes is currently projected to be a second-round pick in the 2027 NFL draft.
