The Buffalo Sabres have been the talk of social media in the days leading up to the 2026 NHL draft.

The team pulled off two notable trades in recent days sending star defenseman Bowen Byram and forward Jordan Greenway to the Chicago Blackhawks for the fourth overall pick, the 45th overall pick and defenseman Louis Crevier, and another deal sending defenseman Michael Kesselring and the 27th overall pick to the San Jose Sharks for the 20th overall pick.

But it doesnt appear Buffalo is done quite yet.

With $13.8 million in cap space and three selections in the first 45 pick of the draft, many believe the Sabres are targeting another big move.

The team has been linked to Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin, and according to David Pagnotta of the Fourth Period, Buffalo is eyeing another prolific forward.

As the Detroit Red Wings navigate trade talks with teams about captain Dylan Larkin, some clubs are also inquiring about the potential availability of sniper Alex DeBrincat, Pagnotta wrote.

..

The Edmonton Oilers, Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Maple Leafs, New Jersey Devils, Seattle Kraken and Buffalo Sabres are some of the teams exploring the market for a top-line, scoring winger and could have interest in DeBrincat.

The 28-year-old DeBrincat is one of the top scorers in the NHL.

Hes coming off a career season in which he tallied 41 goals and 85 points.

It marks the third time hes hit the 40-goal mark and the fourth time hes topped 70 or more points.

Adding DeBrincat would make the Sabres top six even more dangerous.

The team already has perennial 40-goal threat Tage Thompson, emerging first-round pick Zach Benson, and 24-year-old winger Josh Doan, whos coming off a career-best 5-goal, 52-point season.

Buffalo is clearly in win-now mode, and parting with draft picks and prospects is an easier pill for it to swallow than most teams.

Landing DeBrincat would certainly take parting with the No.

4 overall pick plus a solid prospect likely center Noah Ostlund, the teams No.

3 prospect according to The Athletic, defenseman Adam Kleber (No.

5 prospect), or goaltender Devon Levi (No.

4 prospect).
