The New York Giants are relying on an upgraded secondary for the upcoming campaign, but there are a few returning pieces that will be competing for a starting role.While general manager Joe Schoen brought in Paulson Adebo from free agency on a three-year, $54 million deal, the boundary cornerback spot opposite him is still up for grabs.

The favorite to win the job may currently be former first-round pick Deonte Banks, who enters his third season in the NFL.

But theres nothing wrong with making Banks earn the starting job hes held for the past two years despite displaying an alarming lack of effort at times last season.Banks has had a roller coaster start to his career ever since he was taken with the No.

24 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft out of Maryland.

Hes flashed some intriguing talent, but hes yet to put it all together both mentally and physically.Through two seasons, Banks has recorded two interceptions and 23 passes defensed across 29 games (all starts).

After showing promise during his rookie campaign, Banks took a step back in Year 2, allowing a 70.3% completion rate, 12.5 yards per completion, and a 124.2 passer rating in coverage on 74 targets.Meanwhile, Flott, a member of Joe Schoens first draft class in 2022, is entering the final year of his rookie contract.

He recorded one interception for the second consecutive season along with a career-high seven passes defensed and a career-best 89.0 passer rating against.There are a lot of battles to keep an eye on once training camp arrives, and it seems the No.
