The Philadelphia 76ers have secured the No.3 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft following what was a disappointing season for the team.

While rumors have circulated about the team potentially trading the pick, notably a deal that would send it to the Phoenix Suns for Kevin Durant, NBA insider Marc Stein r eports that the Sixers intend to hold onto it and use it to add another young talent to their roster.

"League sources maintain that the Sixers are determined to add a dynamic young talent to their core after the tremendous fortune they enjoyed in the May 12 draft lottery," Stein reported.

"Such players are usually found by drafting (or in this case, staying) as high as possible in the lottery." This news comes days after Jake Fischer reported that the 76ers intend to keep Joel Embiid and Paul George together as a tandem, aiming to run it back for another season with a healthy core.

This year's draft boasts a wealth of exciting prospects.

Duke forward Cooper Flagg is widely considered to be the No.1 overall pick in this year's draft.

The 76ers would likely have a chance to take either Rutgers standouts Dylan Harper, Ace Bayley, or even V.J.

Edgecomb out of Baylor.

Whoever the 76ers draft will join an immensely talented roster, highlighted by a trio of Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey; last season.

Last season, they were among the favorites in the Eastern Conference.

However, several injuries to key stars dashed their championship aspirations.

George missed most of the 2024-25 season due to a left abductor injury; meanwhile, Embiid was only suited for 19 games, missing the majority of the season due to ongoing knee injuries.

Looking ahead to the offseason, the 76ers have a chance to land another high draft pick and a fully healthy roster.

76ers fans can only be optimistic about what the team could do in the 2025-26 season..
