Brad Stevens sets record straight on Boston Celtics’ intriguing NBA Draft interview with Cooper Flagg, ‘We may never get...’

The Boston Celtics have been doing their research on Cooper Flagg.
Cooper Flagg stands as the most prized prospect of the 2025 NBA Draft , and the hype surrounding him is deserved after his sensational one-year college run leading Duke.
It is basically guaranteed that Flagg is bound to become a Dallas Maverick after the franchise struck gold by miraculously winning the top overall selection in the NBA Draft Lottery.
This did not prevent the Boston Celtics from conducting an interview with the teenage sensation at the recent NBA Draft Combine.
Brad Stevens addresses Boston Celtics decision to interview Cooper Flagg It has been reported by Kevin OConnor that Boston were one of the teams who interviewed Flagg during the NBA Draft Combine.
The league only allows teams to interview a maximum of 13 talents for the draft.
And the decision by the Celtics to sit down and talk with the former Blue Devils star has generated some interest.
In his end-of-season press conference, team president Brad Stevens set the record straight on why the Celtics made this compelling move.
We can rank who we want to talk to and the people we know we cant get in to work out is how we decide who we want to talk to at the combine.
Otherwise, we may never get to talk to them again, Stevens said while smiling.
So the only people that will come in and work out for us are the people in our range or maybe theyre at the bottom end of our range or whatever the case may be.
That doesnt really have anything to do with any of that.
Will there be fireworks on draft night? I cant imagine.
But again, who knows? I wouldnt guess with us, no.
Stevens tackles Celtics chances to take No.
1 pick and get Flagg Born and raised in Maine, Flagg holds a considerable New England connection to Boston.
His mom, Kelly, is a huge Celtics fan.
Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum offered praise for Flagg when he played against the teenager during Team USAs scrimmage preparations for the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics .
Heading to the NBA Draft next month, the Celtics have the No.
28 and 32 picks at their disposal.
If theres one crafty executive who can capably pull off a transaction with these assets, its none other than Stevens, after what he did to acquire Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis to propel the franchises 18th championship.
But in terms of moving as high as the No.
1 pick to take Flagg at their side, Stevens admitted that its a long shot for Boston.
Any move would have to involve Jaylen Brown, and more.
I think generally, one of the concerns with the new CBA was it might limit trade activity or movement and I dont know, Stevens argued.
I dont think necessarily in the big picture thats the case.
I think theres no specifics at all, but I wouldnt be surprised to see movement continue to happen across the league.
But as far as us and moving up to those levels in the draft, I would guess that is probably not on the table.
