Trade Between the Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers Officially Completed

Now that they have advanced past the second round, the Panthers will be sending a 2027 first-round pick to Boston in order to complete the Brad Marchand trade.
The Florida Panthers moved one step closer to the ability to defend their Stanley Cup title as they pummeled the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-1 in Game 7 on Sunday, May 18.
The Panthers move on to the Eastern Conference Finals to face off against the hot-skating Carolina Hurricanes.
The Panthers' playoff success has also been good news for the Boston Bruins.
Boston traded veteran forward Brad Marchand to Florida last March for a 2027 second-round pick, with stipulations that would promote the return to a first-round pick .
For it to happen, Florida must have won two rounds of playoffs, and Marchand must have played in at least 50% of their playoff games.
Both possibilities have been completed.
The Panthers won two series, and Marchand played in all 12 games in the first two rounds.
Boston is now going to receive Florida's first-round pick, either in 2027 (protected) or 2028 (unprotected).
Marchand , 37, has paced Florida's playoff run.
He scored the series-equalizing goal in overtime of Game 3 to avoid a 3-0 Toronto series lead, then added a goal and two assists in the massacre of Game 7.
Marchand has now eliminated the Maple Leafs five straight times His contribution has been unambiguous and unprecedented.
It's his fifth time spearheading the elimination of the Maple Leafs, tying an NHL record for most series wins against one franchise.
When asked during the game regarding the milestone, Marchand was humble in his response, deciding to discuss the team performance instead.
As they prepare for Game 1 against the Hurricanes on Tuesday, May 20, all eyes will be once again on Marchand to see if he can continue on his torrid pace.
