Reporter suggests Giants could pass on drafting QB Shedeur Sanders at pick No. 3

While many NFL insiders are now convinced the Tennessee Titans will make Miami quarterback Cam Ward the first pick of the 2025 draft, it's unclear when Colorado signal-caller Shedeur Sanders will go off the board on the night of April 24.
For an article published on Tuesday, Conor Orr of Sports Illustrated suggested that some in-the-know people think the New York Giants could address a different position with the draft's third pick depending on what the Cleveland Browns do at No.

"The current thought is that the Giants will add more veteran competition and may decline to reach my thought and word choice for Shedeur Sanders with the No.
3 pick," Orr wrote about how New York will handle its quarterback situation after the club recently agreed to a two-year deal with journeyman Jameis Winston.
"It would seem like common sense to assume that Ward will go to the Titans and the Browns...
will select a skilled pass-rusher wholl ease the burden on Myles Garrett and one day serve as Garretts heir apparent." Ward is the consensus top quarterback in his class, but Sanders is a much more polarizing prospect.
Numerous NFL front-office employees and other inside sources have reportedly said "they'd be apprehensive about taking Sanders with a top-10 pick," but some nevertheless think the Browns will grab him at No.

As for the Giants adding "more veteran competition" other than Winston, it's believed that head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen could soon meet with former New York Jets starter Aaron Rodgers after Rodgers spent more than six hours visiting with the Pittsburgh Steelers this past Friday.
Big Blue reportedly could target 2024 Steelers QB1 Russell Wilson if Rodgers signs with the Steelers or the Minnesota Vikings.
Orr wrote that Colorado wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter and the Giants "seem like a match made in heaven," in part because Hunter is "an ideal stylistic complement to" New York WR1 Malik Nabers.
Giants ownership, though, could part ways with both Daboll and Schoen if the club finishes another losing season without a long-term answer at quarterback on the roster.
It's possible the Giants are one of the two quarterback-needy teams that reportedly "interviewed Sanders at the scouting combine" and werent "overly impressed by him." With that said, Schoen may feel he has to take Sanders at No.
3 if the Browns make Hunter instead of Carter the draft's second pick.
