LSU football head coach Brian Kelly discusses the offensive line competition

Competition is the theme of the spring for LSU football's offensive line.
The Tigers are losing four starters from the 2024 squad and all five positions are up for grabs.
"I know our guys feel the competition," LSU football head coach Brian Kelly said, "And I think when you create that kind of competition, it only brings out the best in you."A key battle is at the center position.
DJ Chester was LSU's starting center in 2024, but the Tigers landed Braelin Moore from Virginia Tech in the transfer portal.
Moore was one of the ACC's top centers in 2024, and many consider him likely to be LSU's center in 2025.
Moore won't get that job without a battle from Chester.
If Moore wins the center competition, Chester remains in the battle to start at guard.
Kelly said there's no Will Campbell out there.
There's not a clear-cut starter at any position right now.
Kelly says LSU has more than five players who can play offensive line at an SEC level.
The competitive element will remain all year.
"They gotta go out and make progress every day.
And so this is just a different year, and in this year, there's gonna be an intense competition for those five positions all year," Kelly said.
LSU has several blue-chip offensive linemen looking to crack the starting lineup.
The group is talented but inexperienced.
Weston Davis and Tyree Adams are competing at the tackle spots.
Paul Mubenga and Coen Echols are competing with Chester on the interior.
Josh Thompson, a Northwestern transfer, is expected to earn a starting spot.
Whether that's at guard or tackle, remains to be seen.
"The pressure will be on each and every week," Kelly said.
