Daniel, Askren among those inducted to Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in Class of 2024

The Missouri Sports Hall of Fame announced its Class of 2024 on Wednesday morning, revealing that former Mizzou icons Chase Daniel and Ben Askren were among the 11-member class that will be fully honored later this fall.
Daniel, who led the Tigers to a No.
1 national ranking in 2007, started at quarterback for three seasons at Missouri and was inducted into the Mizzou Hall of Fame in 2014.
The Southlake, Texas, native set virtually every statistical program record of note during his time with the Tigers before embarking on a 13-year NFL career.
Daniel finished his MU career with a 30-11 record and three bowl appearances.
Askren, who won NCAA Championships at 174 pounds in 2006 and 2007, finished his career at Missouri as the winningest and most decorated wrestler in program history with an all-time record of 153-8.
He finished as the NCAA runner-up in the first two seasons of his career and became the Tigers' first four-time All-American.
To cap his career, Askren posted an 87-0 combined record across his junior and senior seasons.
Joining the pair of Missouri legends in the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame are Mizzou graduate and longtime SportsCenter host John Anderson, former Tigers' gymnastics coach Jake Jacobson, ex-Lincoln University point guard Tim Abney, longtime Harrisburg basketball coach Steve Combs, former Columbia College volleyball star Amy Mesh Frederick, decorated former Helias baseball coach Denny Hughes, longtime sports administrator Greg Logsdon, former North Shelby softball coach Angie Resa and ex-Smith Cotton and Mizzou long distance runner Steve Stonecipher-Fisher.
Anderson, who will also become a Missouri School of Journalism professor in January, will headline the enshrinement ceremony, which will take place at 1:00 p.m.
Oct.
20 at the Holiday Inn Executive Center in Columbia.
The Elite 11, a group of former all-state athletes from Missouri high schools and standouts at Missouri colleges will also be honored at the enshrinement.
These athletes include Steve Bollken, Brad Cavanah, Brian Clayton, Chuck Cole, Ian Gilworth, , Ethan Harris, Greg Hill, Aaron OLaughlin, Chase Patton and Salem Bubba Stutzer.
As part of the announcement, the Hall of Fame said that it will enshrine the 1975 and 1977 Rock Bridge High School state championship football teams.
Additionally, the eras of three different Missouri high school sports will be inducted Palmyra girls basketball (1981-86), Putnam County softball (1988-2007) and Helias baseball (1987-89)..
