'The Basketball Gods Will Reward Me' – Utah Jazz’s John Collins Gets 100% Honest on the Team’s Rebuilding Situation

The Utah Jazz made it clear at the start of the 2024-25 season that developing the young guys is the main priority.
However, John Collins seems to have other plans because he is quietly putting together a great season.
With Walker Kessler out, Collins has started in the last two games for the Utah Jazz.
The high-flying forward is averaging 28.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.5 steals per game on 56.4 percent shooting from the field and 44.4 percent from three-point range during this stretch.
Collins couldve pouted and sulked since he was traded to a rebuilding team and lost his starting spot, but instead, he put his head down and never stopped working, which is paying off.
I wouldnt say its been the easiest experience.
The way Ive tried to do it, and not saying Ive been perfect in any way, but Ive given myself the extra opportunities to be great in other areas that dont necessarily just concern whats happening on the basketball court, Collins said in a recent interview with Deseret News Sarah Todd.
And I feel like that will overflow and sort of give me some more cushion to go out there and do my thing, and as I believe, or as I say playfully, the basketball gods will reward me with blessings as Ive respected the game, he added.
John Collins scores the game-winning dunk for the Utah Jazz The Utah Jazz secured their first home win of the season against the Dallas Mavericks, with John Collins being the hero for his go-ahead dunk.
With the game tied with less than 15 seconds to play, Jordan Clarkson saw John Collins open under the basket, and Clarkson zipped a pass to Collins for the two-handed jam, leaving the Dallas Mavericks (and their fans) in shock.
Collins finished the game with 28 points (team-high), nine rebounds, three assists, and two steals on 10-for-20 shooting from the field to help Utah improve to 3-8 .
