Luka Doncics scoring and passing led the Dallas Mavericks comeback Thursday night.

But on the games biggest play, he fell asleep on defense.

Its the fourth straight close loss for the Mavericks, who have dropped the quartet of games by a total of eight points.

It looked at first like the Mavs would get blown out.

They trailed by 16 points early in the fourth quarter but got back in the game with an 18-5 run, sparked by Naji Marshalls defense and drives to the hoop.

Clarkson made a floater and finished an and-1, then on the Jazzs penultimate possession, Collins scored on a tip dunk rebounding Clarksons miss.

A big three-pointer from Klay Thompson, his fifth of the game, tied it up before Collins heroics and Doncics blunder.

Theyve lost on a series of unusual plays.

Thursday it was Doncic losing track of the man who dunked on the previous possession.

Tuesday, Steph Curry beat them with a dagger three and a night night.

Sunday, Michael Porter Jr.

hit a game-winning jumper with six seconds left, and Friday, Daniel Gafford fouled Jusuf Nurkic with no time left and they lost on a free throw.

Now the defending Western Conference champs sit at 5-7.

In what looks to be a tight playoff race, the Mavs might look at this week with regret when they see the seedings in April..
