Report: Auburn to be without two players in showdown against Houston

The Auburn mens basketball team will be without two bench players in its Saturday showdown at No.

4 Houston, according to Field of 68s Jeff Goodman.

Neither freshman Jakhi Howard or JaHeim Hudson made the trip to Houston and both will be unavailable in the game.

Howard scored seven points in Auburns season-opening win over Vermont and Hudson scored two points.

Goodman reports the two were involved in an argument and altercation on the teams flight to Houston a private plane, an incident which has spilled into the public eye with flight logs being public information.

The plane had just taken off and was flying over Montgomery when it re-routed back to Auburn to land.

The team got back on board and flew to Houston later Friday night without Howard and Hudson.

ESPN has reported the incident was broken up before escalating into anything serious, according to team sources, but the pilots still turned around.

WBRC in Birmingham obtained tapes of the pilot telling air traffic control: We had two players that got into a physical altercation, clothes were ripped.

Auburn plays Houston at 8:30 p.m.

Its a marquee early season matchup with Auburn ranked No.

11 and Houston ranked No.

4.

After Auburns 94-43 win over Vermont, Auburn leapt up to No.

2 in the analytically driven Kenpom nationally rankings, behind only Houston at No.

1.
