When the Dallas Cowboys got obliterated by the Detroit Lions back in Week 6, it seemed like offensive coordinator Ben Johnson's bag of trick plays went deeper than Hermione Granger's purse in Harry Potter.

Whether it was a play trying to get an offensive lineman into the endzone or a double flea-flicker to Sam LaPorta, the Lions were pouring it on the Cowboys defense.

According to former Cowboys running backs coach Skip Peete, Mike Zimmer's unit should brace itself for more this Sunday when old friend of the franchise Kellen Moore returns to AT&T Stadium in a Philadelphia Eagles attire.

"Im pretty sure (Moore) is going to be pretty excited to play them, Skip Peete told The Athletic leading up to the NFC East matchup.

I guarantee hes going to have some tricks up his sleeve.

Peete's warning to the Cowboys shouldn't be a surprise to Dallas fans familiar with Moore's approach.

He'll never shy away from including some trickery in his game plans and the designs can be top-notch at times.

He's been doing some trickery with the Eagles, although sometimes it hasn't worked for Philly.

The good news for the Eagles, bad news for the Cowboys is this: He won't really need to lean into any flashy plays this Sunday.

One could argue he shouldn't, even.

Not against one of the league's worst defenses and a rival with a backup quarterback .

Moore's career in the NFL has had its fair share of ups and downs.

Renowned as a future head coach around the league, expectations have been sky-high for the former Boise State quarterback, who even in college was seen as a bright football mind.

However, the results have been inconsistent with many flaws showing in Dallas and in Los Angeles, where he coached the Chargers offense in 2023.

In Philadelphia, however, things are going pretty well for Moore.

He is leading the seventh-best offense per EPA/play, which ranks Top 10 in both rushing and passing EPA/play.

He's made the most out of Saquon Barkley, creating opportunities for explosive rush attempts leading to the star running back having the most 10+ yard attempts through nine weeks of the season.

He's also helped Jalen Hurts improve versus the blitz and is making the most out of his wide receiver room featuring A.J.

Brown, who is expected to play on Sunday despite battling injury.

His so-far short stint in Philly is looking like it'll be a positive on his curriculum for a head coaching gig in the future.

But for now, it's about the Cowboys.

And hey, it might even turn into a job audition for the franchise that was always extremely bullish on his talents and that will likely be looking for a new head coach in 2025 .
