Aaron Rodgers has called on the New York Jets to give reps to receiver Irvin Charles after Mike Williams was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers .

The Jets have been active over the last month amid a turbulent start to the 2024 NFL season.

Robert Saleh was fired as head coach after the Week 5 loss to the Minnesota Vikings , and the ensuing home defeat to the Buffalo Bills sparked a major move.

On 'Monday Night Football', the Jets lost 23-20 to the Bills as Rodgers tossed a late game-sealing interception.

Looking to push downfield, the four-time MVP launched the ball in the direction of outside receiver Williams, but the 30-year-old needed to readjust with the ball in flight, allowing cornerback Taron Johnson to snag the ball.

Tom Brady's 'greatest football memory' is not one of his Super Bowl wins Dak Prescott injury fears confirmed as Dallas Cowboys make plan public After the game, Rodgers essentially placed the blame at the feet of Williams.

The receivers error appeared to be the final straw as the Jets swiftly completed a blockbuster trade for Davante Adams to reunite him with Rodgers.

After the loss to the Bills, and learning that the Jets had acquired Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders , Williams missed two days of practice due to "personal reasons" before returning.

The receiver revealed that he had a private meeting with Rodgers to discuss the incident against Buffalo.

With Williams traded at the deadline and Allen Lazard on injured reserve, the Jets receiving corps currently consists of Adams , Garrett Wilson , Malachi Corley, Xavier Gipson, and Charles.

The 27-year-old hasnt had too many opportunities on offense, serving predominantly as a special teams body across his time in the league.

Ahead of the Week 10 clash against the Arizona Cardinals , Rodgers declared Charles was a player hed like to see get more playing time with Williams gone.

The 40-year-old highlighted Charles unselfishness and revealed he made plays from the receiver position in training camp.

While that hasnt panned out just yet, its clear his teammates believe in his ability - and Charles has a clearer path to the field with Williams gone.

The Jets dealt the veteran, who made 12 catches for 166 yards with no touchdowns, to the Steelers for a 2025 fifth-round pick.

Williams is now eyeing a fresh start in Pittsburgh, who finally secured a receiver to partner George Pickens after targetting Brandon Aiyuk throughout training camp.

The 6-2 Steelers sit atop the AFC North and, with an elevated passing attack thanks to Russell Wilson , have begun to harbor aspirations of a deep playoff run.

As for the Jets, they need to continue the momentum after both Wilson and Adams scored in the win over the Houston Texans last week.

Perhaps Charles will get his opportunity to get into the end zone too, especially after Corleys inexcusable fumble on Thursday Night Football.

The 3-6 Jets travel to face the 5-4 Cardinals at State Farm Stadium on Sunday, Nov.
