Although Larsson isnt an offensive defenseman, he has carved a reputation as a reliable defenceman to slot in the lineup.

In his three-year tenure with Seattle, he has twice played a full 82-game season, missing one game last season.

In that same stretch, he had 25, 33, and 18-point seasons in that order .

This extension with Seattle now makes them Larssons longest-tenured team by the time the extension expires, considering he has stayed in Edmonton and New Jersey for five seasons each.

Larsson was part of the infamous 2016 Taylor Hall trade that shook the hockey world at the 2016 NHL Trade Deadline.

This comes after Matthew Beniers was extended to a 7-year, $49.99 million deal in late August, solidifying another piece of the core.

Next year could be a step this well, considering that several younger players like Shane Wright and Ryan Winterton want to join the NHL within the next few seasons.

This move will most likely ramp up the Krakens offensive production and could boost Larssons overall numbers.
