Costas retires from baseball play-by-play Bob Costas, one of the best announcers to ever live, is retiring from calling MLB play-by-play action, 44 years after he started.

Costas, 72, confirmed the news to The Athletic s Andrew Marchand, but declined to add further comment, saying he would address the decision at a later date.
