Sharon center stage on Friday; Farrell, Greenville, Lakeview, Reynolds, Sharpsville play Saturday

Six area teams begin the quest this weekend to try to capture District 10 championships.
Sharon, Hickory, and Slippery Rock qualified for the Class 3A playoffs, Farrell and Sharpsville in 2A, and Wilmington, Reynolds, Greenville, and Lakeview in Class 1A Tonight, Sharon is in the spotlight as the only area team in action.

The Region 4 champion Sharon High Tigers face CASH in the opening round of the playoffs.
Sharon is the No.
1 seed while the Eagles are No.
8.
Sharons last D-10 title came in 2019 with a win over Grove City.
That was the last of three straight district titles for the Tigers.
Conneaut Area last won a D-10 crown in 2014.
Sharon routed CASH, 63-7, in Week 8 (Oct.
11) on the road at Linesville.
The Tigers led that game 28-0 at the end of the opening quarter and 55-0 at halftime.
Sharon QB Ethan Engelmore led Sharon against the Eagles by going 7-of-11 for 195 yards with two touchdown passes and running for a score.
Five other Tigers scored touchdowns in that game (Anavyon Brown, Marius Best, Terrian White, Brock Ondo, and Ghafir Lampkins.
Hughes had four catches for 103 yards.
Ike Friday is red-hot for Sharon.
Over the past two games, he has rushed for 469 yards and scored nine touchdowns.
Sharon is coming off a 35-3 win over Brooke (W.Va.).
Friday rushed for 161 yards and four scores.
Engelmore was 14-of-19 for 165 yards and added a rushing TD.
Sharons tenacious defense is only allowing 8.0 points per game this season.
The Tigers have outscored their opponents 368-80.
The Tigers have won eight straight games since suffering a 33-7 loss in Week 2 (Aug.
30) to Cathedral Prep at Westminster College.
Engelmore is 85-of-143 for 1,274 yards with 13 TD tosses and four interceptions.
Friday has 173 carries for 1,208 yards and 16 touchdowns.
RaKeem Hughes (17-273, 3 TDs) and Bryson Roberson (18-224, 4 TDs) are the Tigers leading receivers.
Conneaut Area is coming off a 35-0 win over Girard.
Joe Furgiuele rushed for a school-record 404 yards.
He scored four touchdowns and also surpassed 2,000 all-purpose yards for the season.
Furgiuele only had 89 rushing yards against Sharon in Week 8 and scored CASHs only touchdown.
Furgiuele has rushed for 1,882 yards this season and 20 TDs.
Quarterback Ben Easler has thrown for 1,006 yards and 14 touchdowns.
The winner advances to the District 10 semifinals to play the winner of No.
4 Titusville vs.
No.
5 Fairview.
Sharon ousted Fairview, 28-0, in the quarterfinals last season and beat Oil City (39-16) in the semifinals.
The Tigers then dropped a tough 14-6 decision to Hickory in the title game.
CASH went 2-7 last year.
Hickory (8-1) was set to play Slippery Rock (3-7) at 7 p.m.
at Greenville High in the D-10 quarterfinals, but the Rockets forfeited the game on Tuesday due to injured players and for the overall health of the team.

1 seeded Steelers travel to New Wilmington to battle the fourth-seeded Bobcats.
Farrell had won four straight games before suffering a tough 7-0 loss to Region 7 Cathedral Prep in Erie last Friday.
Charbel Latouf had a two-yard touchdown run for the Ramblers in the first quarter and that was the only scoring in the game.
The Steelers were flagged for a penalty, which negated a touchdown pass.
Farrell QB Aaron Pegues was 12-of-24 for 102 yards, Juelz Johnson rushed for 125 yards, and Nemo Jones had five catches for 52 yards.
Farrells bulked up schedule is expected to pay dividends in the playoffs.
At one point, the Steelers were 1-4, but the losses came against Hickory, Ft.
LeBoeuf, Ursuline, and Sharon.
Farrell has won three straight District 10 Class 2A championships and won five straight titles in Class 1A from 2015 to 2019.
The Steelers are averaging 25.8 points per game while allowing 14.0.
Johnson has rushed for 1,226 yards (166 carries) and 18 TDs this year.
Pegues is 95-of-154 for 1,226 with 12 TDs and five picks.
Jones is the top receiver with 36 catches for 453 yards and three touchdowns.
Seneca, which has never won a District 10 football championship, is coming off a 41-22 win over Maplewood.
Bobcats quarterback Ryan Harwood was 7-of-18 for 87 yards with one TD pass to Dominic Buscemi.
Harwood also rushed for a pair of touchdowns.
Freshman Zach Moats had 77 rushing yards for Seneca and Buscemi caught six passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns.
Senior center Joe Brennan threw the other TD toss to Buscemi.
On the season, Harwood is 38-of-98 for 445 yards and three touchdowns and four interceptions.
Harwood has 142 carries for 964 yards and 17 TDs while Moats has 106 carries for 795 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Buscemi has grabbed 29 passes for 446 yards and five TDs.
Farrell beat Wilmington, 36-7, in the semifinals last season and defeated Mercyhurst Prep, 16-9, for the D-10 crown.
Coach Paul Piccirillis third-seeded Blue Devils head up I-79 to face the second-seeded Lakers.
Sharpsvilles last District 10 championship was in Class 1A in 2014.
The Blue Devils also captured the 2011 and 2012 Class 1A crowns.
Sharpsville is coming off a wild 45-34 shootout with Punxsutawney at McCracken Field last Saturday.
The teams combined for 998 yards of total offense and a total of 20 penalties for 183 yards (Sharpsville 13-110).
Jaiden White, Geno Currie, and Hadyn McFeaters all rushed for over 100 yards for Sharpsville.
White had 22 carries for 193 yards, Currie rushed for 136 yards on 17 totes, and McFeaters contributed 10 carries for 117 yards.
Currie and White each ran for a pair of scores and McFeaters had a touchdown run and TD catch.
Blue Devils QB Aiden Cadman was 10-of-12 for 131 yards with the TD toss to McFeaters.
White caught four passes for 67 yards.
Rylan Piccirilli converted six extra-point attempts and kicked a 25-yard field goal.
White has 143 carries for 1,092 yards and 12 TDs this season, Currie has compiled 744 yards on 125 with 15 touchdowns, Cadman is 45-of-67 for 812 yards with nine TD passes and four interceptions, and Aiden Puskar leads the receivers with 15 catches for 303 yards and four touchdowns.
Region 3 champion Mercyhurst Prep was off in Week 10.
The Lakers last played on Oct.
18 and recorded a 48-21 win over Eisenhower.
Sophomore running back Vinnie Feliciano rushed for 285 yards and four touchdowns against Ike.
Fullback Clay Wojecki had a TD run for the Lakers, Tyshaun Tate returned a kickoff 60 yards, and Ty Quinn threw a 70-yard touchdown pass to QB Everett Cotterill on a trick play.
Cotterill was 4-of-10 for 104 yards with a TD pass and two picks.
Feliciano has 193 carries for 1,733 yards and 23 touchdowns this fall and also leads MP in receiving (6-203, 3 TDs).
Cotterill is 18-of-54 for 300 yards with four TD passes and five interceptions.
Mercyhurst Preps last District 10 championship was in Class 1A in 2007.
The Lakers beat Sharpsville, 49-0, in the D-10 semifinals last season at Fairview High School.

5 Ike meet at Hornet Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Reynolds won three straight District 10 Class 1A championships from 2020 to 2022 before Cambridge Springs won it last season.
Reynolds is coming off a 50-35 loss to Union-AC Valley last Thursday.
The Raiders suffered a big loss as junior quarterback Xavier Zachrich fractured his tibia and is out for the rest of the season.
Zachrich closed out the season 49-of-109 for 558 yards with six TDs and seven interceptions.
Connor Belback, the backup QB, is 12-of-21 for 165 yards and one touchdown pass.
Zachrich had a pair of touchdown runs against Union-AC Valley and threw a 71-yard TD pass to Gabe Minjarez before being injured.
Minjarez, who is on the verge of 2,000 career rushing yards (1,987), also contributed a pair of touchdown runs.
Zachrich rushed for 194 yards and Minjarez added 161 rushing yards.
Zachrich was 8-of-21 for 117 yards.
Parker Nay pulled in four catches for 78 yards.
Minjarez has rushed for 1,040 yards (178 carries) and 11 TDs this fall.
Zachrich had 619 rushing yards and seven scores.
Nay is the Raiders leading receiver with 28 grabs for 401 yards and six touchdowns.
Eisenhower last won District 10 championships in 1992 and 1993.
Ike is coming off a 27-6 loss to the Trojans in Greenville last Friday.
Logan Penley scored on a 5-yard run in the fourth quarter for the Knights.
Penley and QB Caleb Jakubczak rushed for 76 and 74 yards, respectively.
Jakubczak was 5-of-15 for 59 yards and Penley caught one pass for 25 yards.
Penley has 157 carries for 813 yards and eight touchdowns this fall, Jakubczak is 42-of-107 for 603 yards with five touchdowns and nine interceptions, and Jaydon Chase is Ikes top receiver with 12 catches for 177 yards and one score.
Ike beat the Raiders, 34-8, in the D-10 quarterfinals last season.
Parker Nay had the lone TD for Reynolds.
The Knights then fell to eventual D-10 champion Cambridge Springs, 22-20, in the semifinals.

Lakeview, which fell to Cambridge Springs in last seasons D-10 title game, has won one D-10 crown in 2013 when current head coach Blake Reddick was a star for the Sailors.
In that championship game, Reddick rushed for 143 yards and three TDs in a 27-0 win over Sharpsville.
Greenville won a district crown in Class 3A in 1999, along with 1996 and 1997.
The Region 2 champion Trojans havent lost since Aug.
23 (Week 1) at Wilmington and have reeled off nine straight wins.
Greenville is coming off a 27-6 win over Eisenhower last Friday.
Rudy Gentile rushed for 173 yards and two touchdowns and QB Nick Solderich had 109 rushing yards and a score.
He also threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Justin Schell.
Solderich was 4-of-8 for 56 yards with one touchdown and one pick and Schell caught five passes for 95 yards.
Gentile has compiled 814 rushing yards (105 carries) and 11 TDs this season and Solderich has 795 yards (80 carries) and 11 touchdowns.
Through the air, Solderich is 47-of-75 for 851 yards with 11 TDs and three interceptions.
Schell has caught 26 passes for 541 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Lakeview closed out the regular season with a 44-12 win over Franklin in Stoneboro.
Sailors senior QB Leyton Zacherl put on a show as he ran for a 10-yard score, threw a trio of TD passes, and caught a 24-yard touchdown pass from Blake Skiles.
His TD tosses went to Skiles (42 yards), Brayden Booher (25), and Owen Reynolds (15 yards).
Skiles also added a 19-yard TD run.
Zacherl went 12-of-20 for 282 yards with the four touchdown passes and rushed for 77 yards on six carries.
Skiles hauled in five passes for 151 yards.
Zacherl is 82-of-135 for 1,385 yards this season with 14 touchdown passes and six interceptions.
Skiles has 560 rushing yards (53 carries) and seven scores, Booher has rushed for 529 yards (92 carries) and six TDs, and Zacherl has compiled 369 rushing yards (85 totes) and seven TDs.
Skiles has caught 43 catches for 790 yards with eight touchdowns.
Greenville has done a complete turnaround after going 1-9 last season.
Last fall, the Sailors beat Mercer, 35-6, in the semifinals and then fell to Cambridge Springs, 32-29, in the title tilt.
Top-seeded Wilmington (6-2) has a bye into the semifinals.
The Hounds, who last won a District 10 championship in 2020, will play the winner of Reynolds-Ike.
