Mike Elko believes Jimbo Fisher is why he has a head coaching job in College Station with Texas A&M.

Elko shared as much in response to fiery postgame comments he shared after his Aggies defeated LSU 38-23.

This is comical that I actually have to do this, but its necessary, Elko said on October 28 .

In the postgame I was kind of asked to give a synopsis on how we sell culture to our program.

In doing so, I made a statement that seemed like a very benign statement that somehow managed to be taken as a shot directly at people.

You guys gave me multiple opportunities in nine months to take shots at people, and Ive never done it.

I have nothing but respect for Coach Fisher.

Ive said nothing but positive things about Coach Fisher.

Im the head coach at Texas A&M because of Coach Fisher.

I appreciate who he is, everything Ive done.

And for anybody in the media to think that what I was doing post-LSU is asinine.

And for it to be about any other head coach who gave me an opportunity and hired me, thats not who I am.

Ive never been that person.

Its ridiculous, but it is what it is.

I wanted to make sure everybody knows I wasnt talking to anybody directly.

Mike Elko playing good PR, only got hired because Jimbo Fisher couldnt produce results Given how Texas A&M and Fisher split, its unlikely he had anything to do with what the Aggies brain trust would do next.

Elkos dialect here was PR speak.

He didnt receive any actual help from Fisher.

Elkos run with Duke, which was also the Riley Leonard years, earned him an upgrade in the college football world; just like his QB got at Notre Dame.

The only way Fisher helped Elko was by being so incompetent he got $77 million to no longer coach..
