He also has a street near the Heat arena named after him.
Touted as having one of the greatest careers in NBA history, Wade played 17 seasons in the NBA, 15 of which were in Miami.
While he also played for the Chicago Bulls and the Cleveland Cavaliers, he will be mostly remembered for his incredible stint with the Heat.
He became a dominant force in the league in the early 2010s.
He retired as a three-time NBA champion (all instances as a Heat player), one-time NBA Finals MVP, a 13-time All-Star, and a one-time NBA All-Star Game MVP.
Dwyane Wade delivered a masterclass speech on his statue unveiling ceremony In his 15-year career, Dwyane Wade showed that he wasnt just a great basketball player.
He also always showed class whenever he spoke, and it was no different when he delivered his speech after the unveiling of his statue at the Kaseya Center.
In his speech, Wade talked about what kind of legacy he wanted to leave behind.
He echoed what the Miami Heat has always stood for: being united.
I dont have a vision of what my legacy is, Wade said.
You have to develop a philosophy.
Its an image of a desired state that you want to get to.
A house divided against itself will not stand.
...
You are either in or you [are] out.
You dont merely want to be considered the best of the best.
You want to be considered the only ones who do what you do.
You want to make sure that one day youll leave some footprints, and I think that legacy is what its all about.
You want to leave something behind that people can follow and people can hold on to, he continued.
Drafted to the NBA in 2003, it only took Dwyane Wade three years to get his team an NBA championship, defeating the Dallas Mavericks and earning himself his first and only Finals MVP award.
He won his second and third championship titles consecutively in the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons.
