When the Denver Broncos (4-3) face the Carolina Panthers (1-6) in Week 8, the team will get back its best player as Pat Surtain II returns to the lineup.

Surtain missed the team's last game, a win over the New Orleans Saints, after sustaining a concussion in Week 6 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

But the Broncos will be at less than full strength in the secondary as P.J.

Locke, one of the team's starting safeties, has been listed as doubtful for this game .

A thumb injury will keep Locke out of the lineup, meaning the Broncos will have to turn to a reserve at the safety spot.

Devon Key will likely be that guy.

Key started in place of Brandon Jones when Jones missed time during the preseason.

The Broncos also have JL Skinner and Keidron Smith, who could each see some snaps.

Aside from Locke, the Broncos remain pretty healthy heading into Week 8.

Offensive tackle Alex Palczewski, who is listed as questionable, could also be back soon.

As for the Carolina Panthers, when was the last time you saw an injury report that looked like this? The #Panthers injury report is like a War & Peace of ailments: Andy Dalton (right thumb) Doubtful Diontae Johnson (rib) OUT Jammie Robinson (knee) Out Nick Scott (hamstring) Out Adam Thielen (hamstring) Out Jonathon Brooks (knee) Doubtful* Claudin Cherelus...

That is brutal.

Kickoff is scheduled for 2:25 pm MT and the game will be televised on CBS.

Chris Lewis and Jason McCourty will call the action.
