Former Huskers Brooke Delano, Mikaela Foecke talk Jon Cook's TikTok, Nebraska's success and more

The Nebraska volleyball alumnae drew laugh after laugh out of the room.
Brooke Delano explained her unlikely path from basketball player to volleyball standout.
Mikaela Foecke remembered hating her first visit to Lincoln before falling in love with it.
Now they both live in Husker history.
On Friday morning they swapped stories about a bunch of things.
Notably, John Cook the decorated NU coach who helped shape both of their lives.
Youre probably one of his favorites, Delano quipped.
It just makes me laugh every time it pops up on my feed, Foecke said of Cooks Tik Tok account, which the 68-year-old started this year.
Delano and Foecke Richter now spoke for an hour at Tiburon Golf Club as the headliners of another Big Red Brunch.
They talked about the world-record Volleyball Day in Nebraska, the current landscape of college volleyball, life after Lincoln and, of course, their time at NU.
One way or another, everything circled back to Cook, whos midway through Year 25 as the Husker volleyball coach.
Delano said Cook, a mastermind, is the secret to Nebraskas sustained success.
Its been a good change, a lot.
Hes very psychological off the court, and I believe hes still the same way, said Delano, a Husker from 2007-2011.
But he looks more relaxed.
Richter (2015-18) has noticed the change because she still follows the team.
Part of that, she said, is because Cook cares about the players, not just the Xs and Os.
Delano still follows along, like Richter.
But she played alongside Cooks daughter Lauren.
Delano said Cook is like a father figure to his players, but he sometimes had that expected sweet spot for Lauren.
She could get us some things, Delano said, laughing.
Maybe a little extra butter at a meal, where normally he wouldnt let us.
Asked about Nebraskas lone loss of this season a sweep at SMU Delano and Richter werent worried about it.
If anything, they think its better to have that lesson earlier in the season than later.
After all, the Huskers responded by winning 15 straight, including four against top-10 opponents.
It might be a different story if it happened later, Richter said, but it looks like they have even more confidence now than they did before.
