LeBron James-Bronny James Nike commercial: Lakers rookie gets pranked by superstar dad in new ad | Sporting News

It's common practice for rookies in professional sports leagues to face harmless forms of hazing, like elaborate pranks, favors for veterans, wearing costumes to press conferences and more.
It's not so common, however, for a rookie to debut on the same team as his father, who also happens to be arguably the greatest player in the history of their respective league.
This was reality for Bronny James on Tuesday, who made his first NBA regular season appearance alongside his father, LeBron.
The pair joins several other father-son duos who played in the same league at the same time, including MLB's Ken Griffey Sr.
and Ken Griffey Jr., as well as the NHL's Gordie Howe and his two sons, Mark and Marty.
Bronny's pedigree did not exempt him from light "LeHazing," however, when Nike released a commercial showing his dad filling up his car to the brim with Fruity Pebbles cereal before opening night.
Here's everything to know about the James' new ad, including how the Lakers rookie was pranked by LeBron the day of his debut.

9 | LeBron's NBA GOAT case LeBron James, Bronny James Nike commercial, explained The afternoon before Los Angeles opened the 2024-24 NBA regular season against Minnesota at home, LeBron posted a video to his social media accounts that began with a shot of him pouring an entire box of Fruity Pebbles through the sunroof of his son's car in their driveway.
As the box emptied, he spotted Bronny leaving the house and crept back up the driveway before he was caught.
His son opens the door of his car only for an avalanche of rainbow cereal to dump out onto the ground in front of him as he looks around for the culprit.
LeBron pulls up in the back seat of another car at the end of the driveway and pokes his head out the window to say to his son, "Hey rook, you better not be late!" Bronny responds with "Yo, are you serious?" before his father tells him to clean up his driveway because it's "a mess." "Yo, you're too old for this," Bronny shouted after LeBron as he rolled up his window and drove away.
The video ends with the rookie walking off screen and the Nike logo appearing over the clip, confirming the prank was in fact, an ad.
