Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazulla gave an interesting answer to a question about the challenge of being great, per Justin Turpin .

For Mazzulla, his team for the 2024-25 season isnt great, but has the foundation to be great.

This team, the 2024-25 Celtics is not great, YET.

Do we have a great foundation? Yes.

Is this 24-25 team great yet, no? ...

Every season is different.

Last season, Mazzulla led his Celtics to a 64-18 record, the best in the NBA.

They then went 16-3 in the playoffs, and secured the franchises 18th title.

As for what Mazzulla said, hes right.

There is no way to predict that the Celtics will be great this season until they start playing for real.

Injuries can happen, trades, suspensions, all things that come with the season progressing.

While the preseason was a good peak at what the Celtics can be like, they dont play the same as they will in the actual season.

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown will be getting 36-40 minutes per game, whereas in the preseason they were coming off the bench.

All thats left to prove what Mazzulla said right is for the team to play, which they will on Opening Night on October 22nd, against the New York Knicks at 7:30pm EST.

Joe Mazzulla was asked about the challenge of remaining great: This team, the 2024-25 Celtics is not great, YET.
