Positional size was all the rage this offseason as the Illinois coach rebuilt his roster for the 2024-25 season.

And the two commitments the Illini have in the Class of 2025 Keaton Wagler and Brandon Lee hit that ideal as 6-foot-6 and 6-4 guards, respectively.

Positional size is in for the Illini, and Class of 2026 guard Ethan Johnston is another recruiting target that qualifies.

The 6-6, 185-pound guard picked up an Illinois offer this past week, as his recruitment is only just getting started.

The New York native, who plays at the Hill School (Pa.), also has offers from Pennsylvania and Seton Hall.

A number of high major programs are also interested a group that includes the likes of Kansas, Virginia, Penn State, Xavier, Marquette and Northwestern.

Johnston, who transferred to the Hill School from the Dwight School (N.Y.) after his freshman year, averaged 14 points, six rebounds and 2.4 assists for the Rams in 2023-24.

He played this past spring and summer for New York Renaissance on Nike's E16 circuit.

After a slow start, he came on stronger in May.

He averaged 5.3 points and 2.8 rebounds for the season, but put up 8.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and two steals per game in the final weekend of the regular season in Kansas City, Mo..
