Yankees announce lineup for ALCS Game 5

The Yankees took Game 4 of the ALCS after a rollercoaster performance, building a lead on Giancarlo Stantons three-run homer before watching it get wiped out completely thanks to an overtaxed bullpen finally showing the consequences of all the pressure being put on them, just for the offense to go back and retake the lead off of the best closer in baseball.
Now theyve got the opportunity to close this series out tonight in Cleveland, and manager Aaron Boone is making some minor tweaks to his lineup supporting Carlos Rodon tonight: 2B Gleyber Torres RF Juan Soto CF Aaron Judge DH Giancarlo Stanton 3B Jazz Chisholm Jr.
1B Anthony Rizzo SS Anthony Volpe C Austin Wells LF Alex Verdugo The notable change here is moving Stanton back up into the cleanup position behind Aaron Judge, giving the games best hitter the protection of the games best postseason hitter back-to-back.
Boone has been fairly adamant about keeping the lefty-righty rhythm in his lineup consistent to deal with relievers later in the game, but did have the duo together for his Game 3 lineup where the two went back-to-back against Emmanuel Clase to tie the game.
Given the chance to advance, Boone is going back to giving his big boppers the best chance to drive one out of the park.
Meanwhile, Jazz Chisholm Jr.
slides down a spot accordingly into the five hole.
Chisholms bat has been one of the few blank spaces across the offense in this series, so its a bit of a surprise that hes still as high up as he is.
Given that he paired the two righties in Judge and Stanton though, it was inevitable that a pair of lefties would also get grouped up, and it appears that Boone preferred having Anthony Volpe continue to set up traffic on the bases near the end of the lineup rather than moving him up into the five hole.
Austin Wells will make his second straight start in the eighth spot, and the demotion down from cleanup hitter yesterday appeared to do him some good.
He went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in the second inning to set up what was a 3-0 lead at that point, helping to push Gavin Williams out of the game after just 2.1 innings.
Lastly, we must once again highlight the yeomans work that Gleyber Torres is doing out of the leadoff position for this team.
Torres has gotten on base to start off all four of these ALCS games, and went 2-for-5 with a run and RBI yesterday after punching in a clutch insurance run in the ninth inning off of Clase.
Will he make it a perfect 5-for-5 to start Game 5 off? Youll have to tune in to find out..
