‘Hoosier Daddy, Nebraska?’: Indiana fans — a few Huskers, too — pack stands in Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.
Chill in the air, cloudless sky, tailgate lots packed as the leaves started to change colors.
Its not often that Indiana, with just two nine-win football seasons in its history, would be the site of a Big Ten postcard moment, but Saturday morning, before kickoff of Nebraskas game at No.
16 IU, it fit the bill.
The main artery leading to Indianas Memorial Stadium backed up from Interstate 69 all the way to the site of the game.
Indiana fans more than a few wearing basketball jerseys made laps around the 52,626-seat stadium.
Gonna be a long day gentlemen, long day! two briskly-walking IU fans said to any Nebraska fan within their vision.
One Husker fan, walking away, shot back with a line about the size of Indianas version of Memorial Stadium.
On your left! yelled an Indiana stadium worker, zipping her golf cart over small speed bumps near the stadiums signature statue of College Football Hall of Famer George Taliaferro.
That was on the quieter side of Memorial Stadium.
On the other end, thousands of Indiana fans and a few hundred Husker fans packed into Foxs Big Noon Kickoff pregame show party.
Just outside the outdoor set, Fox erected a sign-making station replete with thick markers and photos of NU coach Matt Rhule, his mouth open.
IU fans seemed to like putting a double s in Nebraska to create a mild curse word and using some version of Indiana coach Curt Cignettis last name.
Another popular sign was Hoosier Daddy, Nebraska? The pro-IU crow enjoyed chanting the phrase, too.
Later, they screamed as champion eater Joey Chestnut who lives in nearby Westfield and two other Hoosier fans gorged corn-on-the-cob in a speed-eating contest.
At Nebraska they dont know what going for a minute is! yelled one of the events hype men earlier in the event.
At Indiana we go all day long! Husker fans made signs, too.
One young boy, wearing a corncob hat, had a photo of Dylan Raiola, NUs helmet and the words The Real BIG RED! Jim Toof of Lincoln who came to the game with his two sons chose to rework a popular Bible verse.
Instead of John 3:16, Toof had Jimbo 3:16: For God so loved Nebraska that he gave us Matt Rhule so that our football team would not perish, but have everlasting success.
Toof said he was laying in bed and came up with that on Friday.
He used a Sharpie marker.
Weve had a few pictures of it today, Toof said.
Toof said he bought his tickets three weeks ago about $100 a ticket as part of he and his sons annual journey to attend a Husker away game.
Its the one that worked for our schedules, Toof said.
It all fit.
Toof then unrolled another sign that had a picture of Austin Powers on it.
WIN UGLY BABY, W IS STILL A W! GO HUSKERS! On a day so pretty, Husker fans focus was still beating Indiana any way possible.
