Fans are still clamoring over who the 4-2 Pittsburgh Steelers will start at quarterback on "Sunday Night Football" against the 2-4 New York Jets .

Quarterback Justin Fields started each of Pittsburgh's first six games after the team acquired him in an offseason trade with the Chicago Bears .

Nine-time Pro Bowler Russell Wilson has taken first-team reps in practice this week after missing the first six weeks of the season with a hamstring injury.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has yet to officially name a starter despite being asked repeatedly throughout the week.

Fox broadcaster Terry Bradshaw, a four-time Super Bowl Champion with the black and gold, was asked on Thursday who he thinks the team should start under center against the Jets.

Russell Wilson says the quiet part out loud amid Justin Fields uncertainty Terry Bradshaw warned by Michael Strahan on air after FOX NFL Sunday antics "I'm gonna stay with Fields," Bradshaw told TMZ .

"I think he's played really good.

He's such a great athlete, he can throw, and I think he just fits the team he has right now...

Fields should stay." Fields has completed a career-high 66.3 percent of his passes for 1,106 yards and five touchdowns for offensive coordinator Arthur Smith's conservative, run-oriented offense.

His 54.0 QBR ranks 20th in the NFL.

The Steelers' four victories have come against the Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Chargers, and Las Vegas Raiders - all teams who finished under .500 last year.

Pittsburgh boasts a +7 turnover differential and is carried on the defensive side by overwhelming 2024 NFL Defensive Player of the Year favorite T.J.

Watt.

Fields was candid when asked about the possible demotion : I don't think I played good enough if I'm being real with you.

If I'm being real with myself, I think if I did play well enough, I don't think there would be any sort of, who should be playing, who should not [be conversation]." At the end of the day, we got a few wins and, of course, Im glad about that," he continued.

"But there are areas that I could do better at and Im going to continue work on those and continue to get better.

Wilson signed a one-year, $1.2 million contract this offseason with Pittsburgh following his release by the Denver Broncos.

He was originally named the team's first-string quarterback after the preseason but a hamstring injury forced Wilson to miss the team's first six games.

He was effusive in his praise of Fields on Thursday, admitting his fellow quarterback has "done a great job." Wilson has gotten the majority of the first-team reps in practice this week.

Tomlin is still mum on his choice to start.

"I'm not going to get into the details of how we distribute the reps and things of that nature," he said.

"It doesn't benefit us.

Both guys were full participants today, and I liked it.

I liked their participation.
