Dallas Stars sign Jake Oettinger to eight-year, $8.25 million AAV extension

The Dallas Stars have locked up Jake Oettinger on an eight-year, $8.25 million AAV contract extension.

Oettinger signed a three-year, $4 million AAV contract with Dallas in 2022 and is currently in the final year.

Through three games this season, Oettinger is currently 3-0-0 with a 1.63 goals against average and .948 save percentage.

You could make the argument that Swaymans deal should have been the minimum for Oettinger, but hes clearly happy there.

In 2020, Oettinger became the first goalie in the expansion era to make his NHL debut in the round leading into the Stanley Cup Final.

Oettinger came in during the third period of Game 2 against the Vegas Golden Knights.

The Lakeville, Minnesota native was taken No.

26 overall by the Stars in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.

Oettinger had three dominant seasons playing NCAA hockey with Boston University between the 2016-17 and 2018-19 season.

His best statistical season was his freshman year, where Oettinger had a 21-11-3 record with a .927 save percentage in 35 appearances.

Oettinger owns an impressive career record of 114-48-23, and also has appeared in 47 Stanley Cup Playoff games for the Stars, playing to a .915 save percentage Internationally, Oettinger has represented the U.S.

at the World Junior Championships, winning gold in 2017 and bronze in 2018.

He also suited up in 2021 for the U.S.

at the World Championships.
