Aneesah Morrow said Wednesday at Southeastern Conference media day that she wants to break the LSU womens basketball programs single-season steals record.
Last season, Morrow tallied 93 steals, 14 shy of the record 107 that Raigyne Moncrief-Lewis set at the end of the 2016-2017 season.
I came so close last year, Morrow said.
Morrow, a senior forward, was named the SEC co-preseason player of the year, alongside LSU guard Flaujae Johnson and Texas guard Madison Booker.
In her first year at LSU, Morrow averaged 16.4 points, 10 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game while shooting 46% from the floor.
In the absence of star forward Angel Reese, whos now playing in the WNBA, Morrow figures to step into a larger role this season, her final year before she exhausts her eligibility.
Its kind of been bittersweet, Morrow said.
Being in college, you enjoy the experience.
Its super fun.
But then, knowing that youre no longer gonna be in college, youre just looking forward to the WNBA draft because that is my goal, to play in the W.
In ESPNs first 2025 WNBA mock draft , Morrow was projected to be selected with the No.
3 overall pick.
The Tigers will tip off their season at 7 p.m.
Nov.
4 against Eastern Kentucky.
Before the years official start, theyll also host two exhibition games on Oct.
24 and Oct.
30..
