MBB Picked Second In ACC, RJ Davis Preseason ACC POY

The Atlantic Coast Conference released its 2024-25 preseason poll on Tuesday evening, picking North Carolina to finish second in the standings this season.

Meanwhile, Tar Heel fifth-year guard RJ Davis was a unanimous pick for the Preseason All-ACC First Team and the overwhelming choice as Preseason ACC Player of the Year.

The media assembled at last week's ACC Tipoff in Charlotte voted on the preseason poll and individual awards released on Tuesday.

Carolina received 11 first-place votes and 924 overall points in the poll, trailing only first-place Duke's 42 first-place nods and 956 points.

Third-place Wake Forest received the only other first-place vote and tallied 800 points in the voting.

Davis, the reigning ACC Player of the Year after averaging 21.4 points per game last season, was the lone unanimous choice to the preseason team.

He received 40 of 54 votes for Preseason ACC Player of the Year.

Duke freshman Cooper Flagg was second with 10 votes, followed by three for Wake Forest's Hunter Sallis and one for Stanford's Maxime Raynaud.

The rest of the preseason first team included Sallis, Flagg, Markus Burton of Notre Dame and Nigel Pack of Miami.

The second team consisted of Ian Schieffelin (Clemson), Chase Hunter (Clemson), Jamir Watkins (Florida State), Baye Ndongo (Georgia Tech) and Ishmael Leggett (Pitt).
