Offenses rise up as Nebraska's Red-White baseball series takes competitive turn
The weather cooled and the bats heated up as Nebraska baseballs Red-White series saw its most competitive game yet Monday.
A seven-run fourth inning sparked the Red team past the White in a 7-5 seven-inning affair at Haymarket Park.
A Cayden Brumbaugh three-run double to right provided the go-ahead blow while freshman right-hander Gavin Blachowicz picked up the win with an extended scoreless relief appearance.
Red leads the series 2-1 with games Tuesday and Wednesday at 3 p.m.
to conclude fall practices.
Both NU lineups ensured neither veteran starting pitcher saw the end of the fourth inning.
White greeted fifth-year lefty Will Walsh with three runs in the first a Max Buettenback RBI double, passed ball and Case Sanderson scoring single did the damage.
Sanderson doubled and touched home after Will Jesske singled and reached second base on an outfield throwing error in the third.
