Could Cubs Have Shocking NL Competition in $500 Million Kyle Tucker Sweepstakes?

The Chicago Cubs took a huge risk by trading for superstar Kyle Tucker in his walk year.
With the star headed for free agency this winter, the Cubs are fighting an uphill battle to re-sign him.
Most outlets project him to sign for at least $400 million, which is much higher than anything the Cubs have ever handed out.
Sports Illustrated's Patrick McAvoy recently listed the San Francisco Giants as a suitor for Tucker .
The Giants have made a lot of big moves this year, but this would be the cherry on top.

Tucker is the jewel of this year's free agent class.
Spotrac currently is projecting his market value to be over $500 million across 12 years.
That makes sense," McAvoy wrote.
"He's just 28 years old and is the type of bat you build an entire lineup around.
He's older than Juan Soto so he surely will get less than the mammoth of a deal he got last offseason, but he is similarly impactful in the lineup when fully healthy.
"The Cubs gave up a haul to get Tucker in a trade with the Houston Astros.
He has fit their lineup well and is one of the reasons for Chicago's turnaround this year.
A superstar can't be mentioned and not linked to Los Angeles.
Financially, it shouldn't work.
But, the Dodgers always find a way to get involved.
The Giants brought in Rafael Devers this year, but are always on the lookout for expensive stars." The Giants have brought in stars like Willy Adames and Rafael Devers over the last few months.
It's unclear whether they have the money to afford Tucker, but it would be the kind of move that would push San Francisco closer to the Los Angeles Dodgers at the top of the National League West.
Realistically, the Giants would be better off using this money on top pitchers in free agency.
Their pitching staff is more depleted than anything, but nobody could complain if they found a way to add Tucker.
