But they got ahead when it mattered most.

9 Ole Miss in a 29-26 overtime affair at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, La.

The Tigers trailed 23-16 with just over three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

Facing a 4th-and-5 on Ole Miss 23, LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier found wide receiver Aaron Anderson in the end zone for a game-tying touchdown to force OT.

Ole Miss once again took the lead on a 57-yard field-goal attempt.

But Nussmeier needed just one play to ice the contest for the Tigers, connecting on a 25-yard TD pass to wide receiver Kyren Lacy.

But the 22-year-old made the two biggest passes of the game when LSU needed it most.

LSU and head coach Brian Kelly were under serious fire after the team lost its season opener against USC.

But since then, the Tigers have won their last five contests.

After LSU plays Arkansas next week, the Tigers will face arguably their biggest test of the season back-to-back against two ranked opponents, No.

15 Texas A&M and No.

7 Alabama.
