LSU football coach Brian Kelly comes to strong defense of Florida's Billy Napier

LSU football head coach Brian Kelly spoke positively about his counterpart at Florida ahead of a clash between the two sides.
The Gators come to Baton Rouge fresh off a loss to unranked South Florida in Gainesville.
As head coach Billy Napier sits on the hot seat, Kelly offered his take on the situation."Hes a really good football coach," Kelly said.
"He knows his team.
He knows what their strengths and weaknesses are.
You can see it on film.
Hes building a culture that is fit to his eye in terms of what he wants to do.
Hes doing it his way."Kelly compared the situation with Napier to his succession of former LSU head coach Ed Orgeron.
The Tigers, fresh off their own national title season, had high hopes for continued success, but it took time for Kelly to instill his way."I came in here, right?," Kelly said.
"And Ed was here.
He won a national championship, right? But he did it his way, right? It was his way and thats fine.
I mean, theres nothing wrong with that.
Thats the way it went.
They wanted to make a change.
I do it my way.
It takes time to put in your philosophy and the way you like to do things.
I do them a lot different than Ed does.
But he still won, right? They asked for a change.
I came.
It takes time to make that change.
And its the same thing with Billy."The last time Florida made the College Football Playoff or appeared in the national title game was 2008.
It dropped out of the US LBM Coaches Poll and AP poll rankings following the week two loss.
Now, on the outside looking in, the Gators securing a win in Death Valley would do wonders for their College Football Playoff resume."Billys come in after two or three other head coaches that changed the way the other coaches did it," Kelly said.
"Now hes starting to stabilize that program, so people talk about whatever they want.
Its crazy.
It takes you what it takes.
And hell get that thing where he wants it.
I think hes got it right now." It wasn't so long ago that Tigers fans got anxious about the state of LSU's program.
Last season, the Gators came away with the win, but now they need to make it back-to-back victories in the series to get their year back on track."They beat us last year," Kelly said.
"So again, we need to worry about us and thats what we do.
I worry about what we do on a day-to-day basis and make sure were prepared to be our best on Saturday."This article originally appeared on LSU Wire: Brian Kelly offers sharp defense of Napier ahead of LSU vs.
