Lions HC Dan Campbell makes his first big guarantee of 2025

The Detroit Lions put together a poor effort in their season-opening game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, and head coach Dan Campbell is determined not to let that happen again in Week 2.

In their first game since losing both offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, the Lions were dominated on both sides of the ball.

They scored a meaningless late touchdown to make their 27-13 loss in Green Bay look a lot less lopsided than it actually was.

During a Monday appearance on 97.1 The Ticket in Detroit, Campbell promised better results in his team's second game of the season.

That matchup will be against Johnson, who is now the head coach of the Chicago Bears.

"Were going in and getting ready to play Chicago.

Were going to win this game.

We have to," Campbell said.

"We have to find a way to clean things up and do what we gotta do.

And theyre going to try to do the same thing, just like every week." Campbell also downplayed the level of familiarity between him and his former offensive coordinator.

"Its the same thing.

He knows what were about, we know what hes about and because of that, youre going to play that game a little bit.

But the game doesnt matter if you dont master the basics inside the game" Campbell said.

"Thats what we have to get back to.

We have to worry about ourselves right now and just home in on the little things." The Lions had one of the NFL's most explosive offenses for years under Johnson.

They led the league with 33.2 points per game last season.

Detroit also had a top-10 defense with Glenn, which is why he landed a job as the head coach of the New York Jets.

Fans and the media are all anxious to see how Campbell will fare in a full season without both Johnson and Glenn.

The Lions coach seems confident that his team will be more prepared in Week 2..
