The Indians will welcome an old friend, as UVA head coach Gary Bass is a former Catawba offensive lineman who performed with distinction in the trenches.

Catawba is favored by 10 points by the Massey Ratings, even though Catawba never has beaten UVA Wise in football, but its a small sample size.

Catawba likes to run the ball to set up the pass and certainly will test that UVA Wise defense to see if its as good as its numbers.

UVA Wises Daniel Thomas ran for 161 yards in last weeks loss.

Jake Corkren is a good quarterback.

Catawba has seen him before.

Catawba (1-1, 0-1) decapitated Ferrum in its opener, but was brought down to earth by an humbling 35-7 SAC loss at Emory & Henry in Week 2.

No one south of Emory, Va., seriously thinks Emory & Henry is 28 points better than the Indians, but the Wasps got the breaks and to their credit, they made the key plays.

Catawbas season stats dont mean a ton at this point, as one of their two games was a walk in the park, but the Indians certainly appear to be competent on offense and shouldnt be limited to seven points all that often.

Preston Brown has thrown for 346 yards and four TDs.

He ranks second in the SAC in passing efficiency.

Bennett Galloway has rushed 29 times for 147 yards and two touchdowns to lead a committee of ball-carriers.

Bo Pryor was quiet last week, but remains the Indians big-play guy.

Former North Rowan hero Amari McArthur has emerged as a key component in the pass-receiving crew.

Evan Simons leads the Catawba defense with 17 tackles.
