Is the ESPN Plus streaming service going away? The short answer is: No, but it is changing into two different streaming plans available through the ESPN App on your phone, TV or other streaming device.

Now, you may have questions about how the ESPN Plus service is changing, including where you can find it, and what a subscription to the ESPN Select or ESPN Unlimited plans include .

Most importantly, is either plan worth adding to your list of streaming services? Unfortunately, there is no free trial for either of the new ESPN streaming plans.

The ESPN Select plan gives you access to a vast selection of live games from pro and college sports that are not being broadcast on the main ABC or any of the ESPN network TV channels.

ESPN Select costs less than $12/month (its just $11.99/month or $119.99/annual subscription, and you can cancel anytime).

On the ESPN Plus landing page, you simply choose the ESPN Select plan in the dropdown menu to sign up for the cheapest version of the service.

The ESPN Select plan is the best deal for people who already have cable, but need the extra service to watch their small college team, or other streaming-only sports event.

While it costs more, the new ESPN Unlimited plan ($29.99/month) is the best option for cord cutters, or people without cable.

ESPN Unlimited includes everything in the ESPN Select plan, plus access to all ESPN TV networks and services.

That includes ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNEWS, ESPN Deportes, SEC Network, ACC Network, ESPN+, ESPN on ABC, SEC Network+, ACC Network Now and ESPN3.

Also, since the NFL just inked a new deal with ESPN for broadcast rights, ESPN Unlimited will now allow you to stream every NFL game being broadcast in your local market on Sundays as well as Monday Night Football each week.

This gives you a way to watch most college football and NFL games this season for under $30 a month (select ESPN Unlimited in the dropdown menu).

ESPN Select is great if you like watching a lot of live college sports, which includes smaller events like volleyball, gymnastics, basketball, soccer and more.

But thats not all the service offers.

What makes the new ESPN Select plan worth the affordable price tag is that they offer so much outside of that.

ESPN Select offers weekly UFC and other mixed martial arts events as well as a slew of professional soccer offerings including Italian Serie A league matches, German Bundesliga matches, English FA Cup games and other tournament matches as well as regular live streaming of Major League Soccer and Major League Baseball games, NHL hockey, motorsports and a lot more.

ESPN Select is essentially an on demand sports streaming service that broadcasts live games and events that ESPN cant fit onto their regular TV network channels due to schedule conflicts.

ESPN Select also has a growing list of original shows and programs that are exclusive to the platform including documentaries, athlete profiles, original series and more.

Yes, you can access ESPN Plus on your TV through the ESPN app, but its not a traditional TV channel.

Get either of the new streaming plans by adding the ESPN app to any of the following streaming devices that you currently use to watch TV and movies: You can also watch ESPN Plus by using the app on your desktop computer, or with your internet browser by visiting plus.espn.com .

These new plans from ESPN Plus give cable subscribers and cord-cutters alike the ability to tailor the service to meet their needs.

For example, If you are a college football fan who never tires of watching the game, youll have countless options to watch on college football Saturdays through the fall and can cancel the service once the season ends with no penalty.

On the other hand, if youre a soccer fan just looking to watch a particular game that is not available through your local provider, ESPN Select often carries a lot of high-profile matches.

If the match is available on the service, you can sign up for a month for under $12 to watch the game and still get access to the platform for the rest of the month until your login expires.

Either way, you only had to pay around $12 to watch your team play instead of having to go through the rigamarole of finding a bootleg live stream on some sketchy website rife with pesky popup ads.

If you are a mixed martial arts fan, the ESPN Select plan is a must-have streaming service.

With a subscription, you get access to every UFC Fight Night event, which are usually hosted weekly with rising stars of the MMA world facing off.

For major UFC events, having an annual subscription ($119.99/year) gives you a discount on the pay-per-view cost of each event.

Without a subscription, those events usually cost upwards of $100 to purchase.

If you already have an ESPN Select subscription plan, you are able to purchase these big time pay-per-view UFC fight events at a discount, saving at least $20 off the usual PPV price..
