Skibidi Setters win Annual Bulldog Brawl Published 1:38 pm Thursday, September 11, 2025 By Jill Holloway THOMASVILLE Thomasville High Schools annual Bulldog Brawl took place on Monday night, giving male students the opportunity to face off against one another on the volleyball court.

The brainchild of Head Volleyball Coach Jackie King, the tournament is single-elimination and raises funds for the team or another charitable organization.

We began the tournament last year, she said.

Through the years, Ive had lots of boys who want to play and have asked if they could play against each other.

The first year was a success, with all proceeds raised benefiting the Thurman family.

However, this year, the more than $500 accounted for went toward the team and necessities such as uniforms, meals, and upkeep.

Email newsletter signup King said the turnout for this year was much larger, with six teams competing.

King ensured the date for the tournament didnt coincide with football practice, reaching out to Head Coach Jonathan DeLay to make sure all of the football players could support, if they chose.

Members of the football team showed out, attending two volleyball practices led by King in the days before the tournament.

I go through the gym and teach the fundamentals and the rules, King said.

The practices were such a hit that students approached King after, requesting a club team.

While King is unable to coach a club team at the time, she is thankful that so many students have shown interest, noting that she is excited to see the involvement continue to grow.

This years winners were the Skibidi Setters, a group of Seniors who came in second place last year.

The group was required to beat their opponents in a two-set game, playing to 15 points.

King concluded by thanking the players and supporters who turned out to the game and looks forward to continuing the fun-filled competition again next year.
