The NFL won't fine Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson after he had a physical altercation with a Buffalo Bills fan on Sunday night.

The Ravens celebrated a DeAndre Hopkins touchdown at the end of the third quarter, but a Bills fan slapped him and Jackson on the helmet as they approached the stands.

Jackson retaliated by shoving him back into his seat, and the NFL opened an investigation.

Engaging in physical contact with fans is a serious offense in the NFL, and players can face ejection, suspensions, and fines depending on the situation.

However, Jackson has escaped punishment for his role in the incident, though the fan has been banned from NFL games and events.

On Thursday, NFL official Brian McCarthy confirmed that Jackson would face no disciplinary action.

"The matter has been addressed by the club and there is no further action from the league," he said.

Following a review, the Ravens have decided to boost security measures to ensure that similar incidents don't occur in the future.

"Our players safety is of the utmost importance," said a Ravens official.

"We have spoken to Lamar, who understands the impact of the situation, about the incident.

While we will keep internal matters private, we have implemented additional security protocols both at home and on the road to better protect our players and handle negative fan interactions moving forward." Hopkins' touchdown restored a two-possession lead for the Ravens, leading to frustrations among Bills fans as the game slipped away.

However, Buffalo staged a stunning late comeback and won a thrilling game 41-40, an instant regular-season classic.
