Jonathan Smith updates key Michigan State football injuries ahead of Boston College

Michigan State football took down Western Michigan on Friday night, 23-6, in convincing fashion on Friday night.

In the win, the Spartans were without three players that were expected to be contributors.

Safety Nikai Martinez, offensive guard Luka Vincic and kicker Martin Connington all missed the game due to injury, and on Monday, Jonathan Smith updated their status.All three are players that the Spartans would love to have back against Boston College this upcoming weekend.

During his media availability on Monday, Smith said that he is not certain, but the team is optimistic that the three will return this weekend.As for the other injured kicker, Tarik Ahmetbasic, it seems rather unlikely that he will be returning this Saturday, but there is a possibility of it happening.Jonathan Smith at his weekly press conference said MSU is optimistic about getting S Nikai Martinez, OG Luka Vincic and K Martin Connington back this week.

Not certain.

K Tarik Ahmetbasic also a possibility but Smith seemed a little less optimistic there.
