Notre Dame football dropped its 2025 season-opening game on the road against Miami on Sunday night, and social media has plenty of mixed reactions.

While the Irish took the loss, there were some clear areas as to why they lost the game.

However, there were plenty of others that think that Notre Dame still can be one of the better teams nationally as the season progresses.

Many were frustrated with more that a few aspects of this game, and you can find some of the best social media reactions to Notre Dames loss to Miami below.

Mike Denbrock called a confusing game 16 carries for love and price tn.

You have a freshman quarterback that hasnt thrown a pass in his career and u give your 2 best top 10 running backs the ball 16 times.

Really denbrock Jeremiyah love lover (@Brunshim11) September 1, 2025It seems like this account would be biased towards Jeremiyah Love, but I dont think they are wrong.

The situation called for the Notre Dame offense to lean on the running game, but they went in a different direction.

Something special brewing even with a lossOn the bright side...we arent even close to peaking too early...when losing to a top 10 team feels like losing to NIU....we got something special Robby Toma (@rtoma9) September 1, 2025The former Irish wide receiver knows ball, and its hard to disagree with his assessment.

Notre Dame went on the road and had a chance to win.

This team has much more than what they showed on Sunday, and theyll just get better from this point on.

CJ Carr needs help from his lines CJ Carr is going to be very, very good.

Glad the Irish have two weeks to get ready for Texas A&M.

Both the offensive and defensive lines have a lot of work to do.

Jack Nolan (@NDJackNolan) September 1, 2025Notre Dames basketball voice saw what most did, Carr showed enough to have confidence in him going forward.

Nolan also saw both of the lines getting outplayed, which seems like an unfortunate general consensus.

Malik Zaire weighs in i would say its been less about Miami's defense and more about us just not challenging their defense.

I havent seen one of their safeties be in on a play all night.

Malik Zaire (@MalikZaire8) September 1, 2025It wasnt the best night for the Notre Dame offense, but you still have to give some credit to Miami.

Their defensive line made it tough for Carr, and he showed his inexperience.

It would have been nice to see more deep shots, but the offense didnt create those opportunities.

Mike Denbrock wanted to protect CJ Carr Denbrock could have been better tonight but a lot of you are missing context.

Our starter was named 2 weeks ago.

The playbook was kept small.

It will develop over time.

It was designed to be simple in what could have been the most hostile environment Carr will see this season.

Irish Vet (@NavyVet4ND) September 1, 2025Its not what we wanted to see from the offense, but Denbrock most likely didnt want to put too much on Carrs plate.

The simplified offense didnt produce quite enough points to pull out a victory, but it is a great jumping point for the rest of the season.

Carson Beck compliments Notre Dame Miami QB Carson Beck to ESPN postgame: "CJ Carr came out there and played a hell of a game and competed for them.

They're going to have a great season and go win a lot of games." Kyle Kelly (@ByKyleKelly) September 1, 2025Miamis starter has seen plenty of other college quarterbacks, and he makes a pretty fair assessment of Carr and where Notre Dame is going.

Beck played well, and was a big reason why the Hurricanes won the game, but he knows that the Irish are a very good team.

The margin is much slimmer now Obviously Notre Dame still alive for College Football Playoff, but margin of error is thin.

Only ranked team left is Texas A&M in 2 weeks (unless USC gets ranked).

No guarantees for 10-2 Irish Brett McMurphy (@Brett_McMurphy) September 1, 2025Notre Dame would have liked to be in a different position as they get ready for Texas A&M, but thats not the reality as they now dont have much room for error.

With Boise State getting blown out, that game is looking like it wont hold much weight with the College Football Playoff committee.

The Irish probably need to run the table from here on out.

Carr wasnt the problem tonight CJ Carr is the least of my worries on this team..

OL is a problem.

Eli cant catch..

fumbling issues.

Denbrock was absolutely awful.

DL isnt built for big boy football..

and defense looked soft as a whole.

Preach (@Mt_lee23) September 1, 2025Sure, Carrs mistakes were magnified because hes the quarterback, but by most accounts, he played very well.

Its odd that the offensive line didnt play well, but the talent is there.

Tight end Eli Raridon statistically had a great game, but made more than a few mistakes.

The defense wasnt up to last years standards, but there is plenty of room for growth.
