Julian McKenzie says the Dallas Stars need to win soon or risk being remembered as a wasted opportunity despite their elite core talent.

The Dallas Stars have built one of the NHL's strongest rosters in recent years, with a mix of proven stars and young breakout players.

But according to analyst Julian McKenzie on the DLLS Stars Podcast, the time to deliver results may be running out.

McKenzie argued that if the Stars fail to win in the next couple of years, fans and media could begin to look at them not as contenders but as a team that fell short of expectations.

"Dallas at some point has to make something work, or else we're just going to start looking at them and say 'What could have been,' and it would be a shame considering the players that they were able to accumulate over the years." Julian McKenzie points to Wyatt Johnston and the Stars' younger core as proof the window is still open The Stars have plenty of elite names in their lineup, from Jason Robertson and Roope Hintz to Miro Heiskanen and Jake Oettinger.

But McKenzie also pointed to the next wave of Dallas talent, such as 21-year-old Wyatt Johnston, as a reason the window remains wide open.

"Even with the younger guys like Wyatt Johnston," McKenzie added, suggesting that the Stars still have the depth and youth to keep competing at a high level.

Dallas has made three straight trips to the Western Conference Final, falling just short of a Stanley Cup Final berth each time.

That consistency shows they are among the league's elite, but it also highlights the fine line between being a true dynasty and a team remembered for missed chances.

As one of the deepest teams in the NHL, the Stars still have every reason to believe a Cup is within reach.

But as McKenzie's comments underline, the pressure is mounting for Jim Nill's roster to turn potential into championships.

I think his point hits hard, because if Dallas doesn't capitalize on this core soon, it could go down as one of the most talented groups that never quite finished the job..
