Some were forgettable, some were serviceable, some were good and a select few were flat-out legendary.As the Lakers approach their 80th season of existence (they were founded back in 1946 as the Detroit Gems in the National Basketball League), LeBron Wire is taking a look at each player who has worn their jersey, whether it has been a purple and gold one or the ones they donned back in the Midwest during their early years.Midway through the 2023-24 season, the Lakers signed guard Skylar Mays to a two-way contract.
He had put up solid numbers in his four seasons at Louisiana State University, and the Atlanta Hawks took him in the second round of the 2020 NBA Draft.Mays got spot duty in his first two seasons in the league.
He averaged 15.3 points and 8.3 assists a game as a starter for the Portland Trail Blazers late in the 2022-23 campaign before they waived him midway through the following season.With the Lakers, he appeared in 17 games and registered 1.3 points and 0.6 assists in 4.5 minutes a game.
Last October, after the Minnesota Timberwolves waived him, he joined Fenerbahce Beko, a pro basketball team in Turkey.
