Minnesota DT Mo Omonode to miss 2025 season

Minnesota Golden Gophers defensive tackle Mo Omonode will miss the entire 2025 season, the program reported on Thursday.

The senior out of West Lafayette, Indiana, joined the program following the spring as the Gophers looked to add additional depth to their defensive tackle room.

Notably, Omonode missed the entirety of Purdues spring season due to a back injury.

In this years fall camp ahead of the season, Omonode was not seen practicing during any of the medias practice viewing windows.

Omonodes injury is a significant hit to the Gophers defensive tackle depth.

Without Omonode, the Gophers will be left with starting defensive tackles Deven Eastern and Jalen Logan-Redding, as well as FCS transfer Rushawn Lawrence, as the only defensive tackles with significant collegiate experience.

Fellow depth defensive tackle Theorin Randle is also on the Gophers injury report and is out for their season opener against Buffalo.

However, as of now, the Gophers believe Randle will return at some point this fall.

Without Omonode and Randle, the Gophers will likely turn to Nate Becker for the majority of Omonodes snaps at defensive tackle.

Redshirt freshmen Jaylin Hicks and Riley Sunram could also factor into the defensive tackle rotation.
