What's brewing for college football season in Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) With the return of college football, fans across Oklahoma are gearing up for tailgates, touchdowns, and team beers.At Iron Monk Brewing Company in Stillwater, they have their own game day beer.

It's called 1890, and it's the official craft beer of Oklahoma State University.1890 at the Iron Monk Brewing Company in Stillwater.

(KFOR)It's brewed by cowboys for cowboys."It's a light, very drinkable, blond ale, something that we wanted to be craft and still have character and flavor," said Trenton Inselman, CEO, Iron Monk Brewing Company.Inselman says it takes a lot of preparation to get ready for kick-off.

Last year alone, they sold almost 2,000 cases of beer, which is nearly 50,000 cans of beer.The University of Oklahoma also has its own beer.

Coop Ale Works Schooner All-American Ale is the official craft beer of Oklahoma Athletics.The official craft beer of University of Oklahoma Athletics, the Coop Ale Works Schooner All-American Ale.

(KFOR)"We wanted something light, we wanted something easy.

I'd tell everybody that we built this beer to go with football, pizza, and having fun because it's not supposed to be this big, intricate, layered beer," said Chris Converse, state director, Coop Ale Works.The Schooner All-American Ale is one of Coop Ale Works' most popular beers, selling about 15,000 cases a year.Skydance Brewing Company also has some OU pride in a can.Barry Switzer's Switzer Lite Lager.

(KFOR)"This time last year, actually, we partnered with Barry Switzer to create Switzer Lite Lager.

The beer was really, the design of the beer was to raise money for his charity, which is Ground Zero," said Jacob Keyes, founder, Skydance Brewing CompanyKeyes says they also have a brand new brew hitting the shelves this month, benefiting OU Athletics.It's called South Oval Lager, and all funds go straight to NIL.In Edmond, the University of Central Oklahoma Bronchos also have a game day beer at Frenzy Brewing Company.UCO and Frenzy Brewing Company's Bronze and Brew.

Easy drinking, light, crisp, very refreshing type of beer," said Jeremy Estle, founder, Frenzy Brewing Company.For now, Bronze and Brew is only sold at UCO and Frenzy Brewing Company, but Estle says some big things are in the works."I think you're probably going to see it on shelves soon.
