Giants QB Jaxson Dart responds to the Brian Daboll QB plan laid out following dominant performance against the Jets

The plan for when the New York Giants will let rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart start his first game is dominating everyone's attention.

Any competent franchise will have a designed track for a young quarterback drafted in the first round.

Dart was deemed a developmental project with the tools to thrive in the Giants' system.

However, his inconsistency with decision-making in college was a driving force behind many people's belief that he shouldn't see the field until late into the 2025 season.

Two stellar performances later in his first exposure to NFL defenses, he's blown away everyone's expectations.

He's checking plays at the line for touchdowns.

He's rifling passes across the middle of the field with no fear.

He looks unbelievably comfortable.

As many debate whether head coach Brian Daboll should give him a shot, it's essential to consider whether Dart feels ready.

When asked by the media after Saturday's win over the New York Jets if he's ready for more opportunities, he emphasized his readiness.

"Whenever my number is called, I think that I'm just going to try to do my best.

But I'm also just going to be the best teammate that I can be and try to push this team in the best direction to win." When will Dart play? Daboll was ambiguous and unclear about Dart's plan on Saturday night.

One would assume that Dart outperformed their expectations thus far when they put together this plan.

That opens up the door for the Giants to alter said plan.

Regardless of what happens, Dart is taking it all in.

"I trust them in the process.

So, I'm really just focused on each and every day, how can I get better? I said this before, when I first got here the amount of knowledge in that quarterback room was very humbling." That knowledge in the quarterback room is off the charts, regardless of how outsiders perceive the offense will perform this year.

With Daboll's impact on Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen, offensive coordinator Mike Kafka's exposure to Andy Reid, and Russell Wilson's Super Bowl experience, this support system is greater than many have given it credit for.

According to Dart, he knows he needs to tap into the wealth of knowledge.

"I'm just trying to catch up on a lot of information.

I want to get on the same level as the guys in my room, so I'm continuing to try to chase that each and every day and just listen.

I have great guys around me, great coaches who have won and done it at the highest level.

So, I just look forward to learning each and every day." Dart hasn't had much exposure to playing with the whole first-team offense.

With a few battered bodies, he did get a drive with the first-teamers, but that was unsuccessful.

He reflected on that opportunity after Saturday's game.

"I felt like it was cool to be out there with those guys.

Anytime you're on the field with the best, you try to make the most of your opportunities.

And obviously, that's going to be something that I go back on and watch the tape and try to learn from it." Patience will be key for Dart.

Daboll is right not to rush his development.

However, in a year with his job on the line, there is a far greater benefit to starting Dart over Wilson.

Wilson is the conservative choice.

Leaning on a regressing veteran will provide steadiness, but the ceiling is very low.

Even if Daboll was on better footing, trying to lean on their defense and run game to sneak into the playoffs would be a herculean task.

At least with Dart, the Giants have an excuse for struggling against a brutal schedule.

More importantly, playing time for Dart is beneficial.

It's worth noting that in Josh Allen's rookie season, he contributed way sooner than anyone anticipated.

He took over the starting role halfway through his first game.

While Wilson won't be as bad as Nathan Peterman, we shouldn't count out an early entry for Dart..
