Carolina Hurricanes Predicted to Trade For Another All-Star
Carolina Hurricanes Predicted to Trade For Another All-Star originally appeared on Athlon Sports.Following another frustrating exit in the playoffs, the Carolina Hurricanes set out to bring more talent to their team.
Carolina has been one of the more active squads around the NHL this offseason, adding multiple All-Star-level players to the roster. The Hurricanes traded for star defenseman K'Andre Miller from the New York Rangers, beefing up their blueline.
But the team also signed forward Nikolaj Ehlers in free agency, adding more firepower to an already strong team. However, the Hurricanes may not be done just yet and could have another move up their sleeve.
Carolina wants to get over the hump in the Eastern Conference, and going all-in could be the way to make it happen.Adam Gretz of Bleacher Report linked the Hurricanes with a potential trade of Pittsburgh Penguins star Rickard Rakell.
Pittsburgh has been discussing trade deals of Rakell with teams, and the Hurricanes may want to get involved."This is a Stanley Cup-or-bust sort of year, and with so much salary-cap space available, the Hurricanes should still stay aggressive, even after already adding Nikolaj Ehlers and Miller."That is one of the benefits of having your star players signed to team-friendly deals: You have the flexibility to keep adding around them.
Carolina has that opportunity.
It should keep adding," Gretz wrote.Rakell could help take this team over the top, bringing his elite scoring and play-making to the table.
Last season with the Penguins, Rakell scored 35 goals and put up 35 assists over 81 games played.Carolina has cap space to work with after signing multiple team-friendly deals with their star players.
Adding Rakell to the mix wouldn't be too much of a hit, and he could drastically change this roster. If the Hurricanes want to bring a Stanley Cup to Carolina this season, the front office should stay aggressive.
This move would check that box, and it's something that the team should absolutely consider doing. This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Aug 14, 2025, where it first appeared..
