The Greater Utica Sports Hall of Fame will induct its 35th annual ceremony Sept.

14 at the Monarch Banquet Facilities in Yorkville.The Hall of Fame's class of 2025 includes former Clinton High School and Bowling Green State University ice hockey standout Danny Kane, former Union College basketball coach Bob Montana, retired Observer-Dispatch sportswriter Ron Moshier and Little Falls' 1982 state championship baseball team.More: Moshier retirement column: Time to give thanks to the many I'll missMore: Little Falls Mounties look back at 1982 state baseball championshipMore: Meet the trailblazers and former high school stars: Greater Utica Sports Hall of Fame 2022Kane was an All-America forward and the leading scorer on Bowling Green's 1984 NCAA Division I championship team.

He assisted on two goals, including the game-winner, in the national championship game, a 5-4 quadruple-overtime victory over the University of Minnesota-Duluth in Lake Placid.Montana, a graduate of Utica's Notre Dame High School and already a New York State Basketball Hall of Famer, won 248 games in 17 seasons while coaching at Union.

He led the Dutchmen to five NCAA Division III tournament appearances, and he and assistant Pete Durr won Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year in 2013.Moshier, a native Central New Yorker and Richfield Springs High School graduate, spent the majority of four decades as a newspaper sports reporter and editor with the Observer-Dispatch and is now a contributor for the Daily Sentinel.

His career included stops with the Cortland Standard and the Evening Telegram in Herkimer.Little Falls' 1982 Mounties, coached by the late Ted Schoff, went 23-6 and won their final 12 games, including a state semifinal and Class C-D championship game on their home field at Veterans Memorial Park.

Players on that team included Scott Blumberg, Rich Bucenec, Chris Connolly, Corky Demeree, John Douglas, Mike Liddon, Bob Matus, Mark McEvoy, Gary Mizerak, Joe Morotti, Eric Pelli, Mike Pohleven, Mark Rose and Brian Rohacek.

Schoff was inducted into Utica's Hall as a coach and athlete in 2003.A noon cocktail hour will be followed by brunch and the formal induction ceremony.Tickets are $50 for adults and $25 for children and are on sale through Sept.
