Phillips, producer of the film, said "The only thing I can think of to compare it to is '97 or '98 when the Jazz were in the NBA Finals.
I mean, in terms of sports mania, that wasn't kind of a Utah division between U fans and Y fans, it really seemed to bring the city together in a way that only sports can do.
And in Salt Lake hasn't happened all that often."ABC4's Wesley Ruff was along for the ride, covering the team in 1987.
He appears in the film telling viewers, "I think it was just the pinnacle of baseball in Salt Lake City, and I want to be at the ballpark when something magical happens.""The Streak" provides a front row seat to the wild ride of the '87 season with highlights, player interviews, and scenes from the ballpark that was packed night in and night out.
Phillips explained, "I think we've made something that can bring you in with a story of people who have dreams and hopes and heartbreak, and that's really the story that I think even the baseball fans will come away and hopefully think about for a long time.
"The trailer for the film features and interview with Dave Bagget, former general manager for the team.
He expressed, "I will never know the feeling of winning Game seven of a World Series.
But I'd like to think that night those kids sure did."Fans can check out the documentary starting this weekend and can find tickets on The Streak's website.Latest headlines:Taylor Swift's new album version sparks 'Taycapitalism' criticismPublic weighs in on 50-Acre Farr West landing project"The Streak" chronicles Salt Lake Trappers' historic win streakPublic viewing and funeral services arranged for fallen Tremonton officersOgden fire chief says that recent structure fires are not connected.
