-- son of Mateen Cleaves, who led Michigan State to the national championship in 2000 -- has reportedly received a scholarship offer from the Spartans.Joe Tipton of On3 reported the notable recruiting news on Tuesday evening.
Cleaves Jr.
is a guard prospect in the 2028 class, who played this past season at Orchard Lake St.
Mary's Prep in Michigan.
He is set to play for Dream City Christian in Glendale, Arizona next season.
Cleaves Jr.
is currently unranked at this time in the recruiting cycle.
However, that is not telling of his capabilities since he is only entering his sophomore season of high school ball.
Michigan State is only the second school to extend an offer to Cleaves Jr.
at this time, according to On3.
Rutgers is the other school that has offered him thus far.Cleaves Jr.
had a very strong summer AAU session and has quickly become a prospect that would garner the interest of big-time programs.
So it should come as no surprise that Michigan State is one of the first to extend him an offer.
We will have to continue to monitor his recruitment over the next few years, but I would expect the Spartans to be in the mix the entire way knowing the connection his family has with Michigan State.Michigan State has offered elite 2028 guard Mateen Cleaves Jr., source tells @Rivals.
